Melbourne Platinum Tour FAQs

Before the trip

Who is eligible for the free RGI Platinum Tours?

You are eligible for the free RGI Platinum Tour if you have purchased and/or settled two or more properties (these could be a block of land, townhouse, or apartment) directly from Resimax Group. The contracts for both properties (single part ‘off the plan’, or land contract AND house build contract must have passed the ‘cooling off’ period and become unconditional, plus the deposits must have been paid in full). You could also qualify to join a Platinum Tour if at the time of your property purchase it was added as an incentive in your contract.

Can I bring a partner?

Yes. The annual Platinum Tour is free for Platinum Members and a plus one they choose to bring on the tour. In the case of multiple owners (or co-owners), you would need to nominate a primary Platinum Member and one other owner (or guest) can join them on the tour as a plus one. In case of more than two owners, you could take turns being primary Platinum Members each year, so all the co-owners get the opportunity to come on a tour.

Can I bring my children on the tour?

The Platinum Tour is for adults only. Also, Resimax Group will only be covering the price of one room with up to two guests and up to 2 breakfasts per day. Any upgrade or extra room beyond this is at your own expense, so if you wish to bring your children you will have to pay for the extra room and breakfasts (we have arranged a discount code with the hotel for you). If you or your plus one (not both) needs to stay with young children to look after them during the tour, then that person will still qualify for the refund. However, if you travel without a plus one and can’t attend the tour in order to look after the children, you will not qualify for the refund.

How is this different to the paid trip that Resimax is advertising?

RGI also offers paid tours to Melbourne (either directly or in conjunction with a local partner e.g., real estate agent, promoter, etc). Customers pay for this weekend tour upfront, and if they purchase a property, they receive a rebate at settlement. The Platinum Tour is a ‘free’ annual tour to Melbourne for eligible RGI Platinum members.

Will Resimax Group be organising my flights, visa, medical certificates, and medical insurance?

No, this will be the responsibility of the tour attendee (and their optional guest). You will be reimbursed a fixed amount at the end of your trip provided you fulfill the refund eligibility criteria (see below for more details).

Will I need a visa to enter Australia?

Yes, all nationalities (except New Zealanders) must obtain a visa or travel authority before entering Australia, otherwise they will be denied entry. Australia does NOT have a ‘visa on arrival’ program. To find the most appropriate visa option for you, please visit: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-finder

For most of our members attending the Platinum Tour, the free ‘Electronic Travel Authority – subclass 601’ should be sufficient, as it allows you to attend business seminars as well. Please refer to this link and make sure to double check whether this is the appropriate option for you: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/electronic-travel-authority-601#Overview

I thought the trip was free. Why do I need to pay for things upfront?

Based on the feedback we have received from our tour attendees in the past, we have decided to give you the flexibility to extend your dates and book an airline of your choice, use your points for travel if you wish to do so, upgrade to a different class for comfort or take advantage of sale prices. Within 60 days after the end of the trip, we will reimburse a fixed amount for your travel costs provided you and/or your guest (if applicable) have attended all events & provided all required documentation. Note: It is your responsibility to arrange your own suitable travel insurance, as in case of unforeseen circumstances, Resimax Group will not be refunding you the fixed amounts for travel costs.

What expenses will Resimax Group cover?

Resimax Group will pay AU$2600 per couple or AU $1100 for a solo/primary traveller. This is a contribution towards your travel costs (e.g., flights, transfers, visa’s, etc.) Additionally, the hotel will be booked and paid for directly by Resimax Group. Other expenses we will cover include some of your meals.

Friday: Drinks with canapes in the evening

Saturday: Breakfast (at the hotel), lunch and dinner

Sunday: Breakfast (at the hotel), lunch, and drinks with canapes in the evening.

What do I need to pay for before the trip?

You will need to arrange your own flights, transfers, travel insurance and any other travel related costs, as you would with any holiday. If you attend our tour events on the Saturday and Sunday, you will be eligible for the fixed amount refund mentioned above.

What if my travel costs are more than what I get re-imbursed?

We have allocated an amount in the refund that would cover the return flights from Singapore & Kuala Lumpur in economy using Jetstar, Scoot, AirAsiaX. Often other full-service carriers such as Qantas, Singapore Airlines, MAS, etc. have sales and offer prices that may be within the refund amount.

Transfers from the Airport to the Melbourne CBD via Skybus is also inexpensive at AU$32pp return booked online. Most Melbourne CBD hotels are a short distance to the Sky Bus terminal at Southern Cross station. If you’re travelling in a bigger group, it is more cost-effective to get a taxi or rideshare (e.g., Uber or Ola. NB: Grab does not operate in Australia).

Do I need to buy another property to get a refund?

No.

How much will I be refunded? In what currency? How long will it take?

After attending both days of the tour event, you will be given a form to fill out with your details including your Australian bank details. The refund is to be put towards your costs (e.g., flights, transfers, etc). Resimax will directly pay the hotel for your Friday and Saturday night accommodation & breakfast on Saturday and Sunday morning. If you are a single Platinum (i.e., travelling without a guest), we will transfer AU$1100, if you are bringing a guest then a total of AU$2600 will be transferred. This refund will be processed within 60 days.

If you deposit the refund into my Australian Bank account, how do I get the money?

You will be able to use your existing Internet banking/app to access your account and transfer funds out (the same way you do for rents received) on your property.

Can I stay elsewhere?

It is possible, but it will be at your own cost for accommodation & breakfasts – you will NOT be reimbursed for this (i.e., Resimax will pay for the room on Friday & Saturday night at the main hotel whether or not you and your optional guest stay there), plus you need to make your way to and from the hotel to catch the bus departures each day – so it is highly discouraged.

If I stay elsewhere, will I get a refund of that accommodation?

No, this will be an extra cost to you.

How & when will I get my refunds?

The main/primary Platinum member will be given a form on day 2 of the Platinum Tour. They will fill this out with their Australian banking details. Resimax will process this form, and payment will be transferred to the nominated bank account within 60 days. Please note, any further settlement between the main/primary Platinum member and their guest, is strictly between them, and Resimax will not be involved. Also, Resimax will not split the payment between the main/primary Platinum member and their guest.

What do I need to send to Resimax to confirm my spot before the trip and by when?

First you will need to reserve your place on your preferred travel date. Once your place on the tour has been confirmed, you must email a copy of your passport, visa, and copy of your airline booking details 28 days prior to the tour.

What are the cancellations/re-scheduling policies?

Once your slot is confirmed for a tour date you cannot re-schedule.

If you cancel less than 14 days before your tour or don’t show up on the tour, you will need to reimburse Resimax Group with AU$500 for your hotel reservation.

If I don’t bring a guest, can I come twice in year or get double the refund?

No, you can only attend once a year, and bringing a guest is optional, but recommended – so you can both enjoy the trip and Melbourne together. If you choose to travel alone, you just get a refund for one person (AU$1100).

Can the Platinum guest, come on a different tour date than the Platinum member?

No, if the guest does not attend with the Platinum member, they cannot come on a different date. Also, the Platinum member (if they attend alone) is only eligible for the AU$1100 refund.

I’ve bought a 2nd property from Resimax but wasn’t invited on the trip, why?

If you haven’t paid your full house and land deposits on both properties or are still in the ‘cooling off’ period, you have not attained Platinum eligibility yet. Contact the customer liaison team for more information.

Should I visit Melbourne’s attractions before or after the trip?

We recommend you enjoy the incredible attractions that Melbourne and surrounds offers, we suggest you do this after the tour, so you can get acclimatised and speak to others about recommendations of things to see and do (and maybe even see/do those things with fellow tour attendees you meet during the weekend).

If I can’t attend, will it be recorded, or can I attend virtually?

No, this is only a live event – it is a great opportunity to experience Melbourne, our developments, and fun times.

What if I get sick before the trip?

Please make sure you have travel insurance that covers this, as Resimax Group will not refund you if you get sick before the trip and can’t attend each of the sessions.

What if I want to stay longer?

This is highly recommended. However, any longer stays are at you own expense. Resimax will organise a discount code with the hotel if you wish to book additional days.

Do I need to bring cash?

Visa and Mastercard (and to a lesser extent AMEX) are universally accepted almost everywhere in Australia reducing the need for cash. However, your bank will probably charge you FX and conversion fees on your credit cards. There are money exchangers in the airport and CBD, but their exchange rate may not be as favourable as using an ATM (which are abundant in the CBD and also at the airport). We suggest having a small amount of cash is handy, especially if you are staying longer.

During the Trip

Will Resimax be picking me up from Melbourne International Airport

No, you will need to arrange your own transfer.

What is the schedule for the trip?

This is the basic standard schedule of the tour and tour events. We will provide more details in the coming weeks.

Arrive on a Friday. Drinks and canapes with other Platinum members that evening.

Saturday: Breakfast at hotel. Bus tour and activities at Eynesbury. Lunch and dinner with Resimax Group.

Sunday: Breakfast at hotel. Resimax Group event during the day (we will provide the transport). Lunch with Resimax Group. Drinks and canapes in the evening. Fly out Sunday night, or drop back to the city if you are extending your stay.

Please keep in mind, you can extend your trip if you wish to do so. However, you will need to pay for the extra nights at the hotel (we can arrange a discount for you if you stay at the same hotel that we are booking you into). Resimax Group will only pay for Friday and Saturday night accommodation + breakfast.

Which hotel are you booking for us?

Resimax Group is booking you into the Novotel Ibis Melbourne Central located at 399 Little Lonsdale Street, Melbourne 3000. It is a favourite amongst our tour attendees due to its central location in the CBD and proximity to shops, stations, bars, restaurants, and other attractions. You will be staying in the Ibis section of the hotel, which boasts of 4-star amenities.

Hotel Contact: T: +61(3) 9929 8888, E: Ha0b1@accor.com

If I wish to extend my stay / arrive early at the hotel, how do I do it? Is there a discount code?

Resimax Group encourages you to extend your stay after the tour, especially since you’re coming all the way! There is much to see and do in Melbourne. To assist with this, we have arranged a discount code for you.

You can use this simple procedure to easily extend your stay at the hotel and avail a discount code too.

To book, visit:- https://businesstravel.accorhotels.com/gb/booking/advanced-search.shtml?identification.reserverType=SC&identification.reserverId=SCP2030862&identification.reserverContract=ME258AU838

  2. Choose the additional nights you wish to stay
  3. Scroll down and press ‘search’
  4. From the list of hotels, select ‘Ibis Melbourne Central’
  5. If you wish to stay in the same room, choose ‘Compact Room 1 queen bed’ (or ‘Twin’ if applicable), and select ‘Negotiated Rate (Note – these rates do not include breakfasts)

Note: hotel discounts are subject to availability – so we suggest you book any additional nights as soon as possible.

I am coming to Melbourne with my children, and we are extending our trip / coming earlier. How do I book a room for them at the hotel?

Please see the above point on booking additional nights and linking them to your existing allocation. Remember to select the TOTAL dates of their stay (not just the additional dates that you have booked for yourself (if applicable). Please note the hotel has very limited numbers of twin rooms – so booking early is highly recommended. You may send in any additional requests to the hotel directly.

Can I bring my own food?

Australian quarantine is very strict with large fines – we strongly suggest you not bring any food or drink into Australia. There are convenience stores and supermarkets within walking distance of the hotel in case you wish to buy anything.

What about mini-bar and room service?

Resimax will cover the room and breakfast for 2 days up to 2 guests per room. The hotel will ask you for a security deposit/pre-authorisation (or a refundable deposit if you don’t have a credit card). Additional mini bar and room service cost is at your expense.

What will the weather be like when I’m in Melbourne?

Melbourne is renowned for having ‘4 seasons in a day’ so dressing in layers is essential. In the colder months, those coming from warmer climates really need to ‘rug up’. It is very important to have a hooded shower proof jacket. Further information about the weather can be found at www.bom.gov.au.

What clothes/shoes should I bring?

Wear layers, plus waterproof hooded jacket for rain showers is essential. Comfortable, closed shoes are required as we will be doing some walking.

Will I need to share a room with someone?

If you bring a guest, you will be sharing a room with them (you can specify if you want a double bed or 2 single beds).

Will there be a toilet on board the bus?

Yes

Will I have time to experience Melbourne?

We encourage you to stay a few days longer and experience the diverse joys of Melbourne. Resimax will provide a tourism kit as part of your tour with interesting things to do in the city and further afield.

Will I get a chance to visit/inspect my property/properties?

It will not be possible for you to visit your property during the Platinum Tour weekend. There will be many people on the tour who have one or more properties spread throughout several of our master-planned estates. If you wish to do an inspection of your property, you will need to contact your property manager at LEAP Real Estate and organise the inspection before or after (preferably after) the Platinum Tour weekend.

Please note: You will need to give LEAP Real Estate at least 21 days’ notice so they can contact the tenant to request the inspection. Do keep in mind, it is upon the tenant to permit or deny this inspection, as it is additional to the regular inspections conducted each year. You will also need to arrange your own transport for this.

What if I get sick during the trip?

If you get sick during the trip, we will still refund you provided it is a genuine case.

Do I get a refund if I don’t attend both days? What gets refunded? What about my guest?

The fixed amount gets refunded to you (and for your guest if applicable) only if you attend both days of the tour events. If your guest doesn’t show up during the event, you won’t receive a refund for them (outside of exceptional circumstances as mentioned above).

On the Sunday evening how do I get to the airport (transfer)?

We will have the bus do a courtesy drop to Tullamarine airport before returning to the city.

How do I find out what attractions are open to visit in Melbourne?

We will have a tourism and attractions guide for the month you attend that we will give you as an inspiration to stay in Melbourne a little longer.

After the trip

How do I organise seeing/inspecting my property?

Speak to your property manager at Leap real estate

How do I get back to the airport (i.e., transfer)?

On Sunday evening we will do a drop from Tick space to Tullamarine airport. Departing from the city, we suggest using the Skybus that departs from Southern Cross station (to Tullamarine airport). If there is more than one person, it may be more cost-effective and convenient to share a taxi or rideshare.
